Who Can Attend? Do I Have to Be Catholic?
You do not have to be Catholic to participate. CCU and HGTC students of all faith backgrounds are welcome, whether you’re Catholic, another Christian, practice another religion, have no religious background, or are simply curious about faith. There is no pressure or expectation. We’re simply glad you’re here.
Due to space limitations and the unique nature of our student community, the Catholic Student Center and our Masses, dinners, Bible studies, and events are exclusively for CCU and HGTC students.
What Should I Wear?
Come as you are. Most students dress casually. Jeans, shorts, polos, or T-shirts are all pretty common. There’s no dress code, but when you can, just keep in mind that you’re coming to Mass and dress accordingly. If you’re coming straight from class, the gym, or work, don’t worry. You’ll fit right in.
What Happens at Mass?
Mass is the central act of Catholic worship, where we gather to pray, listen to Scripture, hear a homily (reflection), and celebrate the Eucharist. You’ll notice that Catholics stand, sit, and kneel at different times, but don’t worry if you don’t know what to do. Feel free to simply observe and participate as much as you’re comfortable.
Mass lasts about one hour, and afterward we enjoy a free dinner and time to meet other students.
Can I Receive Communion?
If you are a baptized Catholic who is spiritually prepared to receive Holy Communion, we warmly invite you to do so.
If you are not Catholic, or if you’re not ready to receive Communion, you’re still very welcome to attend Mass. During Communion, you may simply remain in your seat and use that time for quiet prayer or reflection.
Will I Fit In?
Yes! Every semester, students come through our doors for the first time, and many arrive knowing no one. Whether you’re outgoing or shy, a freshman or graduate student, Catholic or just exploring your faith, you’ll find a welcoming student community here.
We believe every student deserves a place to belong, and we’d love to get to know you.
How Do I Become Catholic?
If you’re interested in learning more about the Catholic faith or you’re thinking about becoming Catholic, we’d love to walk with you.
Our Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is designed for anyone who wants to explore Catholicism, ask questions, and learn at their own pace. There is never any obligation or pressure to join the Church.
If you’re interested, simply let us know by filling out our registration form or talking with one of our campus ministers after Mass.
I’ve Never Been to a Catholic Mass. Is That Okay?
Absolutely! Many students who visit us have never attended a Catholic Mass before. You don’t need to know what to do or say. We’re simply happy you’re here. Feel free to observe, pray quietly, and participate as much or as little as you’re comfortable. If you have questions afterward, we’d love to answer them.
Can I Bring a Friend?
Yes! We encourage it. If your friend is also a CCU or HGTC student, bring them along. They do not need to be Catholic. Whether they’re another Christian, practice another faith, have no religious background, or are simply curious about Catholicism, they’re welcome to join you.
Sometimes visiting with a friend makes the first experience even more comfortable.
Where Do I Park?
Free student parking is available in our parking lot right outside the Student Center at 396 W. Cox Ferry Road in Conway.
What Happens After Mass?
One of the best parts! After every Sunday and Wednesday student Mass, we gather for a free dinner at the Student Center. It’s a relaxed time to meet other students, enjoy good food, ask questions, and build friendships. There’s no rush to leave, and all CCU and HGTC students are invited to stay.
How Can I Meet Other Students?
Getting involved is easy. Join us for our weekly student dinners, Bible studies, Chants Night, retreats, service projects, and other social events throughout the semester. Our FOCUS missionaries and student leaders love introducing new students, so you won’t have to figure it out on your own.

What If I’m Not Sure What I Believe?
That’s perfectly okay. College is a time when many students ask life’s biggest questions about God, purpose, and truth. Whether you’re searching for answers, returning to your faith, or simply curious, you’re welcome to explore those questions with us.
You don’t have to have everything figured out before you walk through our doors. Come as you are, ask honest questions, and discover what the Catholic faith is all about. Our hope is that every CCU and HGTC student who visits the Catholic Student Center will find a place to grow in faith, build friendships, and feel at home.
